Perception of medical students in the internship developed in the discipline of integration teaching service and community I (IESC I)

Introduction: The insertion of medical students in primary health care contributes to the training of humanized professionals. Objective: To narrate the experiences lived by the students during the IESC I internship in primary health care. Development: Territorialization activities in health were carried out, in which it was possible to verify the determinants and conditioning factors of the health-disease process of the population. Thus, it was possible to observe the outcome of this process during the follow-up of the care of the professionals to the sick population. With this, the diagnosis of the main health problems of the territory was carried out and it was possible to carry out educational activities in order to work on health promotion and disease prevention. Thus, the experience enabled the development of skills to act in Primary Health Care in a critical and reflective way, allowing to confront theory and practice. The students inserted themselves as agents of social transformation, expanding the sense of citizenship and verifying the importance of the performance of the professional in training within the health services of the SUS. Conclusion: The internship represented a tool to achieve humanized medical training, providing a reflection on the importance of teamwork in this scenario and awareness of the health needs of the population.
