Resumo

Population aging has been occurring extremely rapidlyin developing countries, implying a higher prevalence of chronic-degenerative diseases (NCDs,s). Among these, diabetes mellitus stands out, a syndrome characterized by a chronic state of hyperglycemia and disorders in the metabolism of carbohydrates, lipids and proteins, associated with absolute or relative insulin deficiency and/or its action in the body.
