Abstract

The curricularization of extension is a prerogative of the MEC based on the regulation by Resolution No. 7, of 2018/MEC, which requires 10% of the undergraduate course workload to be allocated to extension practice. The objective of the study is to present the experience of implementing the curricularization of extension in undergraduate medicine in a private college in the municipality of João Pessoa- PB. The implementation of the Interdisciplinary Practices of Extension, Research and Teaching - PIEPE axis was directed to extension actions for students, in the academic semester 2023.1, with the menu based on the dialogical interaction of the academic community with society; citizen education of students; interprofessional and interdisciplinary training, construction and application of knowledge in society; and articulation between teaching, extension and research. To this end, the teachers hold meetings with the student groups to conduct and guide the writing of six extension projects with scientific rigor, and then the students carried out the actions in the Primary Care territory. The general objective of the projects and the respective actions were chosen based on the health needs identified in fields of practice in health services. In this case, as a problem, they identified the low vaccination coverage in Paraíba, and directed strategic choices that could have an impact on reversing this scenario, such as: active search for users with delayed vaccination schedule, participation in a campaign on the "D-day" of multivaccination, intersectoral articulation in schools, dissemination and information on vaccination on community radios. The products of these actions generated scientific abstracts and students were encouraged to present their academic experiences at events and publication in scientific journals. Thus, it was observed that the module was able to develop communication skills, humanized ethical posture and associate the content learned in theoretical classes taught during the semester; with this the movement of interdisciplinarity was materialized.
