Abstract

Infective Endocarditis (IE) is a complication of high morbidity and mortality and potentially avoidable in patients with valvular heart disease. Almost any agent can cause IE, although the most frequent are gram-positive bacteria, mainly Staphylococcus, Streptococcus, and Enterococcus.
