Title: Bariatric Surgery: Effects on Nonalcoholic Fatty Liver Disease

Obesity is a disease of epidemic proportions in Brazil and is closely related to the reduction of quality of life and life expectancy, especially due to its connection with other diseases. In view of this scenario, and because it is a disease of difficult clinical management, there has been a significant increase in the application of Bariatric Surgery in recent years. This intervention may also have effects on Nonalcoholic Fatty Liver Disease, which has a statistically significant relationship with obesity. Therefore, the aim of this study was to identify the impact of Bariatric Surgery on NAFLD and whether there are surgical risks for patients with this disease. For this, as a methodology, a literature review of 7 articles was conducted, including meta-analyses, randomized studies, and systematic reviews published in the last 5 years (2018-2023) in the PubMed database.
