Safe use of everyday chemicals - Experience narrated in an extension activity

The role of chemistry in our daily lives is undeniable, especially when it comes to the products we use in our homes on a daily basis. The study and understanding of chemicals and their safe application in our daily lives play a crucial role in modern life. The objective of this study was to promote awareness about the correct use of chemicals in everyday life among students of Youth and Adult High School in a state public school located in Paraíba. The lecture was conceived as an initiative to share knowledge with the external school community, as part of the extension activities, one of the areas of activity of the Tutorial Education Program (PET). The application of the lecture was done through slides presented by the speakers and a questionnaire developed and previously tested was also used to be applied in the final phase of the lecture. The need to use household chemicals safely and responsibly is of great importance, both individually and collectively. The realization of this extension activity played a crucial role in raising people's awareness about the correct use of household cleaning products and the dangers that mixtures of chemical products can cause to health and the environment.
